What are periods like?

im 14, and i havent had my periods yet. just out of curiousity what do they feel like, like how do you know that they are there. do you feel the blood coming out or anything. i mean ( this is gonna sound personal and gross) but is it thick and gooey or runny blood. i know it sounds sick but im 14 and i havent started and i just want to know .
