Is the 90 days allowance applicable for each EU country or asa whole?

I am a Malaysian currently travelling in Europe. I understand that Malaysian can travel in Europe without a visa up to a 90 days. But, I am wondering the 90 days allowance is for each country in the EU or the 90 days allowance is a combined period for all EU countries?
